Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove developer Yacht Club Games has expressed an in interest in seeing more Amiibo developed for its popular puzzle platform game. The video games company is the first indie developer to have one of its characters created as an official Amiibo. The Shovel Knight is currently the only Amiibo character available from Yacht Clubs’ puzzle platformer Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove. The character is popular for its great functionality and quality and the games maker hope that Nintendo will bring more of the titles amiibo characters soon.
Yacht Club Games hopes for more Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove Amiibo
As with Amiibo for other games it would be better if the Shovel Knight had some company but only time will tell if that actually happens. Possible names that have been brought up include Specter Knight or the newer King Knight Amiibos. In an interview with Gadgets 360, Sean Velasco, Designer and Director at Yacht Club Games seems to think so:
“As far as more amiibo go… man, wouldn’t it be cool to see amiibo of Plague Knight, Specter Knight and King Knight!? That would be amazing. Maybe someday.”
The Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove game consists of the acclaimed original title, Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope, and the two expansions Plague of Shadows and Specter of Torment. The first game was originally released on console for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U and Shadow Knight: Specter of Torment is currently exclusive on Nintendo Switch console.
The game has benefited from the huge visibility as one of the Switch’s launch titles and promotion by Nintendo.
Supporting indie developers is now a crucial part of any consoles’ success, and we have seen many sign up for projects on the Nintendo Switch. Hopefully Nintendo will soon bring out more Shovel Knight Amiibo soon!
